QRCodeKIT vs QR TIGER: the 2026 comparison on stated criteria

Prices and limits were read on each vendor's public pricing page on 23 September 2026 and match the plan grids shown below, captured on 22 September. Where a vendor's site states two different figures, both are given. Re-verified quarterly. How we compare QR platforms explains the method.

Who the two platforms are

QRCodeKIT built the first dynamic QR code in 2009 and has run them continuously since. It was first to launch the digital business card QR and the menu QR, and first to put an AI agent inside a code. Its redirect infrastructure has resolved more than 1.2 billion scans and has been stress-tested at the Oscars, the Super Bowl and MotoGP. It is used by teams at Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Nike, Coca-Cola, Unilever, Nestlé, Tetra Pak, Philips, Walmart, LEGO and NASA, with published case studies from Qatar Airways, Karl Lagerfeld, Boca Juniors, PortAventura World and the University of Bologna. It has been certified to ISO 9001, 27001 and 14001, is GDPR compliant, and hosts the platform on AWS EU regions.

QR TIGER launched in 2018 and is operated from Singapore, with offices in the United States, Europe and Southeast Asia. It reports more than 850,000 brands on the platform and 18,000 developers on its API. Like QRCodeKIT it is QR-first: 25 code types, a large self-serve base, sister products for restaurant menus and forms, and an enterprise tier with single sign-on. It has been certified to ISO 27001:2022 and states GDPR and CCPA readiness.

This is a comparison between two platforms that both sell the code rather than a link. The differences are in what the code can do once it is printed, and in the terms that decide whether it keeps working.

What QRCodeKIT does that QR TIGER does not

  • Free codes that never stop. Two dynamic codes free for life with 100 scans per code every month, renewing, editable, and without ads. QR TIGER's three free codes have 500 scans each in total; at the limit the code becomes inactive and the fix is an upgrade, and every free scan shows a QR TIGER logo popup.
  • Cleo, an AI agent at the scan. Trained on the owner's content, answering whoever scans in more than 40 languages. QR TIGER's Sena answers the account owner about scan data; nothing answers the person who scanned.
  • Invisible QR codes. A design mode that removes the solid background and lets the code sit inside artwork with only the corner markers firm, exported as background-free PNG or SVG for Figma, Illustrator, InDesign and Canva.
  • Google Reviews codes with AI-drafted reviews. A star, three questions, a drafted review, with a threshold that routes low scores to private feedback. QR TIGER's Google review code opens the review page.
  • An MCP connector on every plan, including free. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf can create and manage codes in plain language. QR TIGER does not publish an MCP server.
  • Monthly billing on the mid and upper tiers. Pro at $65 monthly and Enterprise monthly or yearly. QR TIGER bills monthly on Regular only; Advanced, Premium and Professional are yearly.
  • Seats without Enterprise. Ten on Pro, fifty on Enterprise, with Admin, Editor and billing roles. QR TIGER includes one user up to Premium and two on Professional.
  • ISO 9001 and 14001 alongside 27001.
  • EU hosting. AWS EU regions. QR TIGER states AWS in several countries without naming them.

What QR TIGER does that QRCodeKIT does not

  • A cheaper way in. Regular is $7 monthly or $65 a year for 12 dynamic codes with unlimited scans, API access and the Canva app. QRCodeKIT's first paid plan is Starter at $20 a month billed yearly.
  • The API on every paid plan, from 500 requests on Regular to 50,000 on Professional. QRCodeKIT reserves the API for Enterprise.
  • Bigger bulk batches. Up to 3,000 codes a batch from Advanced. QRCodeKIT creates up to 1,000 at once from a CSV, from Starter.
  • More code types: 25 against QRCodeKIT's 22, plus separate products for menus and forms.
  • Up to 99 sub-users on Enterprise, against QRCodeKIT's 50 seats.
  • A stated 99.9 percent uptime guarantee on its enterprise page. QRCodeKIT states above 99 percent with 24/7 monitoring.
  • Pro-rata refunds. Its terms refund the unused part of a term if you stop mid-way, alongside case-by-case refund decisions. QRCodeKIT has a 7-day money-back policy.

QR TIGER is cheaper at the bottom. Regular at $65 a year is the lowest price in this comparison for dynamic codes with unlimited scans, and Advanced at $16 gives 200 codes against Starter's 100 at $20. From Pro the order reverses: $50 buys 1,000 codes, ten seats and a custom domain, against Premium's 600 codes and one user at $37, or Professional's 1,200 codes and two users at $89. Billed yearly, that is $0.60 a code a year on Pro, $0.74 on Premium and $0.89 on Professional, and Pro can also be paid monthly, which no QR TIGER plan above Regular allows. What happens to printed codes over time

A QR code is a promise that a piece of print will keep working, and the two platforms make it on different terms.

QR TIGER's free code works until its five-hundredth scan and then stops; the allowance does not renew, and until then each scan shows a logo popup. Paid codes scan without limit for as long as the plan runs and stop when it expires. QR TIGER sends reminder emails before expiry, keeps the account's data for up to a year so a late renewal restores the codes, and lets you suspend an account for up to a year. After that year the data may be removed, and cancelling the account deletes it. The one-year grace period is a fair one; the codes are still dark for the gap.

QRCodeKIT's promise is that the code will keep doing what a dynamic code is for. Every code on the platform has been dynamic since 2009, the destination can change without limit on every plan, and two codes stay free for life with a monthly allowance that renews, so a code printed today works and stays editable in five years whether or not a subscription is ever bought. Codes on a lapsed paid plan are deactivated and return when the plan is renewed, with the account and its data kept.

Both let you print on a domain you own, which is what makes codes portable: QR TIGER from Premium at $37, QRCodeKIT from Pro at $50. A code printed on either platform's default domain resolves through that platform only.

If you need the API on a small budget or bulk batches in the thousands, QR TIGER reaches further and earlier. If more than two people work on the account, or your codes feed automations on form submissions and payments, QRCodeKIT's seats and event webhooks do that work without the Enterprise tier.

AI and assistants

Both platforms added AI in 2026. QR TIGER's Sena, launched in February, is a chat that answers questions about the account's scans and campaigns; it reads only data inside the account, is included on Professional and Enterprise, and can be tried on other plans during a 7-day trial. QR TIGER does not publish an MCP server. QRCodeKIT's MCP connector is included on every plan, including free, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or Windsurf can create and manage codes in plain language.

The difference is where the AI sits. Sena helps the owner read the numbers. QRCodeKIT's Cleo talks to the person who scanned the code, in their language, about the owner's own content; QRCodeKIT's AI also designs the code (artistic codes) and writes for the customer (Google Reviews). QRCodeKIT was the first QR platform to put an agent inside the code, and QR TIGER has no equivalent at the scan.

Compliance, hosting and trust

QR TIGER has been certified to ISO 27001:2022, states GDPR and CCPA readiness and a 99.9 percent uptime guarantee, and says it is hosted "in multiple countries on Amazon AWS" without naming them. Its enterprise page calls it the only QR generator certified to ISO 27001; it shares that certification with Uniqode, Scanova and QRCodeKIT, which have all been certified to ISO 27001 as well. Neither QR TIGER nor QRCodeKIT publishes SOC 2 or HIPAA.

QRCodeKIT has been certified to ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and ISO 14001, complies with ISO/IEC 18004, is GDPR compliant, and has run a security operation with 24/7 monitoring and above 99 percent uptime for seventeen years, through the biggest live broadcasts a QR code has appeared in. It hosts the platform on AWS EU regions, with international transfer terms in its privacy policy.

On information security the two are level. For a European buyer with a residency requirement, QRCodeKIT names the EU; QR TIGER names no region, so that is the line to get in writing.

Verdict: which should you choose?

Choose QR TIGER if you are one person with a handful of codes and a tight budget, if you want API access without an enterprise contract, bulk batches in the thousands, or geofencing and retargeting included rather than added on, and if paying a year up front suits you.

Choose QRCodeKIT if the code has to keep working and keep doing more: if free codes must not stop at a scan cap; if a team of more than two needs seats without buying Enterprise; if you want to pay monthly on the mid-tier; if the code has to sit invisibly inside artwork, answer customers through Cleo or draft their Google reviews; if you want an AI assistant to run the account through MCP; if you want seventeen years of resolving scans behind your print, ISO 9001 and 14001 alongside 27001, and EU hosting.

If you are leaving QR TIGER, the QR TIGER alternatives piece scores six platforms against the same criteria.

Frequently asked questions

Which platform has been around longer?

QRCodeKIT: it built the first dynamic QR code in 2009 and has resolved more than 1.2 billion scans since, on infrastructure stress-tested at the Oscars, the Super Bowl and MotoGP. QR TIGER launched in 2018.

What can QRCodeKIT do that QR TIGER cannot?

Keep two dynamic codes free for life with a monthly allowance that renews and no ads; put Cleo, an AI agent, at the scan; make codes invisible inside artwork; draft Google reviews with AI; let AI assistants run the account through an MCP connector on every plan; bill Pro and Enterprise monthly; include ten seats on Pro; host in the EU; and add ISO 9001 and 14001 to ISO 27001.

What can QR TIGER do that QRCodeKIT cannot?

Start at $7 a month or $65 a year, offer the API on every paid plan, create bulk batches of 3,000, offer 25 code types, support up to 99 sub-users on Enterprise, and refund the unused part of a term. Geofencing and retargeting are on both platforms: included from Premium and Advanced on QR TIGER, add-ons on higher QRCodeKIT plans.

Is QR TIGER cheaper than QRCodeKIT?

At the entry level, yes: Regular is $7 a month or $65 a year against Starter at $20 a month billed yearly, and Advanced gives 200 codes for $16 against Starter's 100 for $20. From Pro upward QRCodeKIT costs less per code ($0.60 a year on Pro against $0.74 on Premium and $0.89 on Professional), includes ten seats, and can be billed monthly.

What happens when a QR TIGER free code reaches 500 scans?

It stops working, and QR TIGER's help centre gives upgrading as the fix; the allowance does not renew. QRCodeKIT's two free codes get 100 scans each every month, renewing indefinitely, so they never reach a final limit.

Does either offer AI?

Both do. QR TIGER has Sena, an AI chat about scan data, on Professional and Enterprise. QRCodeKIT has an MCP connector on every plan and puts AI in the code itself: Cleo at the scan, artistic design, and AI-drafted Google reviews.

What happens to my QR TIGER codes if I switch?

Codes on QR TIGER's default domain resolve through QR TIGER only; if you leave, they stop unless you reprint. Codes on a custom domain you own, connected on Premium or above, can be pointed at any platform through DNS. Export your scan data as CSV first: QR TIGER keeps it for up to a year after a plan expires, but deletes it when an account is cancelled.
